It is the first question contractors ask, and it is a fair one. Most marketing companies answer an AI visibility question with a website proposal, because the rebuild is where the invoice and the four-month delay live. So the assumption sets in that showing up in ChatGPT or a Google AI Overview means tearing down what you have and starting again.
It does not. Contractors come to us on every platform imaginable, and the overwhelming majority keep the site they already own. The work happens on top of it.
We work with the site you already have
Whatever you are on, we have worked with it: a site that came with Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan, an Angi or Thumbtack-built page, a GoDaddy or Wix site, a WordPress build from a local shop, or a Facebook page doing the job of a website. The platform is not the deciding factor. What matters is whether AI engines can read who you are, confirm it from more than one source, and find something specific enough to quote when someone asks who should I call for this repair near me.
Those are things we add to a site, not reasons to replace one. Structured data goes into pages that already exist. Answer-first content becomes new pages on your current domain. Listings, profiles, and review flow live off your site entirely. None of it depends on a new design.
What if your site came with your field software?
Plenty of trades run on a website that shipped with their scheduling or dispatch software, and those editors can be thin. We work with what the editor exposes and deliver the rest ready to paste. Where the platform will not accept structured data or new service pages, we build those signals in your Google Business Profile, your listings, and the directories AI engines actually read.
No website at all? We build you one, at no additional charge.
Some contractors we work with have no site, only a profile page on someone else's domain, or a site so far gone that nobody has the login. If that is you, we build the website as part of the program rather than quoting it as a separate project. There is no add-on fee and no separate design engagement.
The site we build is not a brochure. It is built from the first page with the structured data, clear entity information, and answer-first pages that AI engines need in order to name your business. You own the domain and the site. See our flat-fee pricing for exactly where this sits.
Why a rebuild is rarely the fix for a trade business
When a contractor is invisible to AI, the cause is almost never the design. Across the audits we run, the same handful of gaps show up:
- No structured data. Nothing on the site tells an engine, in machine-readable terms, who you are, where you work, and what you do.
- Nothing specific to quote. The pages talk about service and dedication. AI engines cite pages that answer an actual question with an actual answer.
- Inconsistent business information. Your name, address, and phone number differ across the sources AI checks, so no source confirms another and the engine leaves you out.
- A thin or stale review presence. Recency and volume both count toward whether a model is willing to say your name out loud.
- No machine-readable index. No llms.txt, no clean sitemap, no obvious path for a crawler to follow through the site.
Every one of those is fixable on the site you have today. A rebuild that ignores them produces a better-looking site that AI still will not mention.
When a new site genuinely is the right call
Sometimes it is, and we will say so directly. A replacement makes sense when the current platform cannot publish new pages, will not accept structured data, blocks search engines from indexing it, or sits on a service that is being discontinued. Those are real constraints, not preferences about how the homepage looks.
Even then, the answer does not change: we build it at no additional charge. The point of the program is getting your business named when homeowners ask, and we would rather remove the obstacle than sell you a project.
What we need from you to work with your existing site
Less than you would expect. In most cases it comes down to four things:
- Access to publish, or a named person who can paste what we send you.
- Your correct business information, exactly as you want it to appear everywhere.
- Access to your Google Business Profile so we can complete and correct it.
- Whatever review or approval step your organization requires, so we can build it into the workflow from day one.
If you cannot get all four, we still move. We start with the signals that do not require site access and add the rest as it opens up.
The bottom line
You do not need a new website to get found by AI. You need your existing presence made readable, consistent, and specific enough for an answer engine to trust it. We do that on the site you already own, and if you do not own one, we build it and do not charge you extra for it.
